These demons are stronger than normal but if killed, give better drops. There is a new feature called empowered demons, in which demons who have killed a player in another campaign will appear in the player's campaign. Other objects such as field drones and collectible toys make a reappearance. The Slayer still has his twice-jump boots that he picked up in Doom (2016), has further acquired the ability to scale certain roughly-textured walls like an Imp, and soon gains the ability to dash through the air, which combined with jumping, means Doomguy now can traverse large distances of empty air, contributing to the distinctness of the game from Doom '16. With an increased focus on mobility in the game, the DOOM Slayer gains a grappling hook (via the Super Shotgun), the ability to perform two rechargeable dashes anytime, climb walls, and swing from monkeybars. The Slayer also has access to a new Blood Punch melee attack.ĭoom Eternal has more emphasis on making large jumps and climbs, a bit like a 3-D version of classic Super Mario games. The flame belch stuns enemies and makes them drop armor. The Doom Slayer is now equipped with a cooldown-style shoulder cannon, which can be used to shoot grenades, ice bombs, or a burst of flame without interrupting attacks. Alternate fire modes returned from DOOM '16 as well and have been rebalanced to make them more viable to switch between. To compensate, the chainsaw, which works the same as in Doom (2016) by providing ammo drops from kills, always has at least one fuel. The weapon set is slightly different, with the notable change of the shotgun being the first weapon, and there is no pistol with infinite ammo. ![]() The Ultra-Nightmare difficulty level has been removed, with the game now having four difficulty levels, but they skew somewhat tougher than those in Doom (2016). ![]() The single player mode is mostly similar to Doom (2016), but there are a few differences.
